Where spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art. -- Leonardo da Vinci
The Gift of Bronze Gleaned
from Sweat and Tears
and Heat
and Time
She yearns for the Pain
of the Transformation
yet Grieves the Change
The Words come through her Hands
as if by Magic
and Faith is Born
in Bronze

I was born in Ypsilanti, MI. I hold a degree in Sculpture from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. I also studied Art and Art History in Mora, Sweden and at Arizona State, Tempe, AZ. I am currently Foundry Manager at Shidoni Foundry in Santa Fe, NM.
I find the language of art a fundamental form of communication. My art is my hearts voice, my way of claiming truth and giving it form.
The creation process is a physical extension of my hearts desire. Words, thoughts, intentions and prayers become images, ideas, form and expression. Linked. Complete.
As a child, I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without hesitation, I would answer, "an Artist and a Mom." I was never without crayons, paper and my dolly. My parents always gave me free reign with my art, I thought that very normal. I know now that it was extraordinary. My grandfather further nurtured that love of art when I was a very small girl. We would spend hours down in his basement workshop and he literally gave me aprentiship to all manner of tools and equipment, allowing me to create to my hearts content.
Later, I studied Art and Art History in Sweden and Scandinavia. It was at this time that I visited Vigeland's Park in Oslo, Norway. I was suddenly face to face with form that spoke to me in a language I recognized immediately. It was at that moment - I knew I was a sculptor.
Through that language, I was given the great honor of being First Assistant to Sculptor, Gyuri Hollosy on Aspirations of Liberty, a 19.5' bronze memorial of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution on permanent display in Boston, MA. This solidified my desire to create works in bronze and I have been doing so ever since.
Now the grace and gift of my life is that I am both a Mom and Sculptor - dreams of a lifetime become reality.
I know now that I was an artist before I was born and I will remain so after my death. I know that my path has been always toward this place in my life.
